As a Lincoln County native, and West Lincoln High School graduate, Erica recognizes the importance of community. Divorces and separations can be one of the most stressful times of your life, and Erica finds it rewarding to be able to help her neighbors and community through these tumultuous times.

As one of the three lawyers in the family law team, Erica works to make sure clients understand the process, are educated on their options, and are represented to the best of their abilities. She recognizes that this is often a process no one wants to be involved in and works diligently to make sure everything is as seamless and efficient as possible. Johnathan Rhyne and Rebecca Yoder, the other two members of the family law team, are both certified by the North Carolina State Bar as specialist in family law, and all work together to employ strategies that will most effectively achieve your goals. In addition to the three attorneys, our paralegal staff, Bobbie and Brandi, have over 30 – and 20- years’ experience with our firm, respectively.

Erica is a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, North Carolina and has been involved in the community since a young age. Since 2015, Erica has served her community as the director of the local Miss Lincoln County Apple Queen Pageant, awarding over $50,000 in scholarships to Lincoln County women. She is heavily involved in the Lincoln County Business Professional Women group, as well as other non-profit organizations in Lincoln County.

She graduated from Davidson College in 2019 with her B.A. She received her law degree (J.D. 2022) from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she graduated in the Top 10 students, summa cum laude and was a member of the North Carolina Law Review. While in law school, Erica received the certificate of merit in her Personal Income Taxation course and was an enrichment group leader for both Contract and Real Property courses as well as an Honors Writing Scholar. Upon graduation, Erica was inducted into the Order of the Coif and accumulated over 100 hours of pro bono service hours.

In her free time, Erica enjoys spending time with her husband John Dock Tallent, and their puppy, Penelope. They enjoy going back to Davidson and Chapel Hill for sporting events on campus, as well as attending as many events downtown as they can.
